Business Phone Systems

There are three main kinds of business phone systems available in the market. They are PBX phone systems, KSU-less phone systems and key phone systems. Which kind of business phone system is ideal for you will depend mainly on the number of extensions you need. It also depends on the features of your telephone system.

PBX Systems

If your business needs 50 or more extensions, a PBX phone systems is the way to go. These systems will give you advanced features. PBX phone systems used to be quite expensive and small business firms were not able to afford them. This is not the case anymore as the cost of PBX phone systems has dropped significantly thanks to the advancement in technology.

KSU-less Phone Systems

KSU-less phone systems are ideal for companies where there are few employees. Compared to other business phone systems, the initial investment for KSU-less phone systems is not much. KSU-less phone systems are designed so that you can get most of the features of small business phone system upon installation. As KSU-less phone systems are not permanently wired into your office, you can easily relocate. Before buying KSU-less phone systems make sure you have chosen a system that is compatible with the wiring you have in your office and accessories (such as modems and headsets). Because of the low cost of these phone systems, telecom vendors do not sell, maintain and install KSU-less phone systems. There is serious doubt about reliability of KSU-less phone systems. Another limitation of these phone systems is that they are more prone to crosstalk.

Key Phone Systems

If you need 40 to 50 extensions in your office, key phone systems can help you a lot. Key phone systems use a central control unit known as the Key System Unit to provide small businesses with features that are not available in the conventional phones. In comparison to a PBX phone system, though, key phone systems are often less flexible.

No doubt, most key phone systems and PBX phone systems have a few different technical features. Some key phone systems provide small businesses with functions that were once only available to companies that had PBX phone systems.
