Improving Retail Sales
Improving your retail sales requires that you keep your customers shopping for as long as possible. The longer they browse the greater the possibility of them making a larger purchase. A good way to make sure they stay is to make the environment as friendly as possible.
Making the environment as friendly as possible starts at the door, provide a warm greeting as soon as they come in. Some retailers have employees who stand at the door to assist people in taking off their coats, hanging them up and showing them around. This is a good way to make your customers feel appreciated.
It is important to analyze the customer inception rate if a friendly environment is not enough to increase your sales. The rate should not be less than 75% percent. If the rates are lower than 75 % you are losing potential customers.
Most customers like to see the price of the item that they are buying. Your customers will not enjoy their shopping experience if the product is not well presented, the price tag is not prominent enough or it is far out of reach. Most customers get lost when they enter in a large mall. You should post large signs that will help them find their way around or offer small maps to help them navigate.
The products you offer should come with useful information. If you have newspaper clippings, articles or posters about the products have them posted near the product shelf. This may give the extra edge needed by your customer to buy.
Your retail shop should have a clean, pleasant environment. The bathrooms must be clean all the time. You should also offer a water cooler; shopping is generally tiring and if you provide some refreshment, your customers will linger for longer periods.
Often a shopper s accompanied by someone who is not shopping, it is important for you to provide a pleasant environment for them too. Have an area where they can sit and read books, magazines or the newspapers. Having an area like this can get them interested in your shop. You should have relevant articles about your products posted to raise interest levels.
Finally, your sales staff should be friendly. Many salespeople are busy attending a phone or stocking the shelves. You should have a back up person available to assist customers at all times. This tells the customers that they are important.
