How versatile should a HR department be


The idea behind having a versatile Human Department is to aid a company or organization in easy and quick decision making. In the presence of a human resource department, a company or organization will yield future profits. A human resources department must have the gift of performing several tasks simultaneously without being threatened by the additional burdens; the tasks carry along with them. Depending on the needs of the employer, and the goals and objectives to be achieved by the respective company, a human resources department must be knowledgeable and creative, and accordingly develop effective strategic problem-solving ideas and solutions. The human resources department should be able to synchronize new company policies and personnel programs.


A human resources department must have a thorough understanding of the organization's day to day activities and functions. Additionally, a human resources department must possess the capability of maintaining an office inventory of all its employees, and assist them in their everyday duties. It should be able to analyze financial and bank reconciliation statements, and carry out supervisory procedures to ensure its employees are carrying out their assigned duties efficiently.

The Human Resources Department should have the ability of interacting with the top management officials, and other departmental heads operating within an organization. It must also be able to co-operate with its employees in spearheading employee training and discipline campaigns, and also welfare campaigns. The human resources department should be able to analyze the abilities of his/her employees, and have full authority over the hiring and recruitment process.

The human resources department should be able to design and implement various safety and health procedures within the organization. Worker should be made aware of the health hazards prevailing in their companies. This is especially common in a pharmaceutical company, where the workers are exposed to hazardous and life threatening chemicals. In this case, the HR manager within the human resources department should possess a Master's degree in medicine of Chemical engineering. He/she must be able to design and implement safety procedures and tactics to ensure that the employees' life is not threatened in any way by the chemicals. This in turn, could facilitate a better working environment for the company's workers.

In addition, the human resources department must be able to associate with other top management consultants and managers, and ensure that its company's policies are in compliance with the state and federal laws. Moreover, the human resources department should possess the ability to communicate with its employees in a variety of languages, apart from its native language. They must have the ability of writing creative articles, speeches and articles with a lot of flair and originality.

The department should also posses an adequate amount of mathematical and statistical skills. It should be able to interpret complex graphs, pie charts, bar graphs and trigonometrically based equations.
